U9As shared a runfest with Sparsholt at Easton.

Easton won the toss and elected to bowl.

Sparsholt batted steadily but Easton's bowling and catching pinned them back to a manageable score. Grant Pugh pulled off a stunning one handed catch being the best of the bunch. A generally good team effort on the bowling front with both Grant and Ted Umbers picking up a couple of wickets, albeit a lot of wides which did not help the Easton cause. Sparsholt completed their 16 overs with 280 for 7.

Easton had not chased such a large score successfully but the trend was set with Jasper Hanson making a quick fire 24. This was trumped later on by Toby Andrews who smacked 38, including 4 6s! Some good running and calling and no cheap wickets meant that Easton charged past their target to end on 343 for 1 - their top score of the season.

A good afternoon for Easton.

Man of the match (as nominated by the skipper of the day, Ted Umbers): Fred Trinder - great all round effort wicketkeeping, bowling and batting which exemplified the good team ethos that is building.

Ted's Top Tip: When bowling make sure you follow through in your bowling action towards the batsman. This will help accuracy as well the speed of the bowling.
