Club History 1 of 4

1. Recent History: 2005 - Present

The Club originally played cricket under the guise of Easton CC and although it is known that cricket has been played at the ground in Easton since the early 1900’s. Easton and Martyr Worthy Cricket Club were founded under its present title in 1946 when, after the Second World War, Easton Cricket Club, a vibrant village side, amalgamated with a neighbouring hamlet Martyr Worthy, which was struggling to re-establish a cricket side following the cessation of hostilities. In 2010, support from the National Lottery and Easton Village enabled EMWCC to build a new larger clubhouse for the 2011 season.

EMWCC First XI currently compete in County Division 1 of The Hampshire Cricket League. A Second XI & Third XI also competes in the Hampshire League Cricket League. Easton & MW boast a proud tradition of success in local cricket with many final appearances in Winchester & District cup competitions.

Indoor cricket has also been particularly successful with Easton & MW crowned Winchester & District indoor champions for the tenth successive winter in 2006.

The club also have a vibrant junior section and field junior teams at U9, U11, U13 and U15 competing in the local Winchester & District League and cup competitions.

In 2012 EMWCC established a new Academy initiative with Ex-Hampshire and Worcestershire bowler James Schofeild to provide a springboard to propel talented young players into first and second team cricket.
